Motivated by a desire to make a meaningful contribution beyond the competitive tech landscape, I joined Vocera, a company dedicated to improving communication for healthcare professionals, including frontline COVID-19 workers. As their first Technical Marketing Engineer (TME), I played a pivotal role in co-leading the integration of the first Alexa healthcare solution on AWS. This groundbreaking project paved the way for voice-enabled communication in hospitals, streamlining workflows and enhancing patient care.
My tenure at Vocera culminated in a significant milestone when the company was acquired by Stryker. This successful acquisition, the second in my career within five years, validated that a combination of innovativeness and passion will always yield the best dividends. This experience provided me with a deeper understanding of strategic business acquisitions and mergers.
Major Deliverables & Accomplishments

Supported all Product Management aspects by generating market, sales, competitor, and customer technical collateral content to shape product roadmap and strategies, while also facilitating collaboration across Engineering, Testing, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Integration, Implementation, and Support to drive Vocera’s latest solutions and innovations.

Co-led the first beta deployment of the Alexa Healthcare Solution on AWS. Supported and onboarded internal DevOps and Voice SW teams, as well as an external Alexa Skill Contractor. Led all technical implementation steps and provided ongoing support to all internal partners, external contractors, and Beta Customer #1.

Revamped customer-facing communication process using MS Teams to support a Corporate Directive to accelerate customer communication (2x-4x) while enabling systematic tracking/auditing. Sent out ~3000 emails via Marketo in 2nd quarter and ~6000 emails in last quarter with ~33% increase of open/read rate from 15% to 20%.

Resolved ~30 integration support request tickets per quarter with ~50% evolving into POCs as AWS sandboxes. Managed all POCs & provided support to internal & external customers. Led custom onsite integration testing with partners to improve deep integration of Vocera’s solutions.

I led all technical implementation steps, including end-to-end solution/demo testing, ensuring clarity with technical documentation supported with timed videos providing feedback to all stake holders from front end users with their voice commands to backend translation using our "Alexa Skill".

Beyond integration, I successfully championed a transformation of the customer communication process. By revamping and standardizing public-facing communications using MS Teams and Marketo, I achieved a 33% increase in open/read rates (15% to 20%) per Marketo data.
My contributions extended to streamlining the sales quoting process via SalesForce. I effectively resolved an average of 30 sales integration support requests per quarter, with ~50% conversion rate leading to successful Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) hosted in AWS Customer Sandboxes. I effectively managed all AWS resources for customer requests and POCs within the Americas region.s

Building on my success at Brocade in advocating for cutting-edge application network and security solutions, I joined Cisco’s global competitive analysis CSI TME team. This role perfectly aligned with my passion for in-depth technical analysis. Here, I transformed complex technical data into engaging content focused on the latest competitive edges to enable Sales Engineers in their sales process. The reports were hosted on our team blog, which was viewed by thousands of internal users monthly. By crafting a comprehensive knowledge base encompassing diverse formats—from compelling videos to detailed reports—I helped ensure Cisco’s sales engineers and product management teams remained at the forefront of the industry. Unfortunately, a large company restructure occurred during a major Cisco layoff.

In-depth Competitive Analysis & POC Labs:
I conducted thorough analyses of Tier 1 competitor solutions in the Network Access Control (NAC) and Policy space (focusing on ISE, DNA Center, in Campus Branch). This in-depth analysis included not only a review of product literature and feature sets but also hands-on evaluation by deploying both Cisco and competitor products in POC labs encompassing various network components (Switches, Routers, Access Points, Clients). I ensured labs remained current with the latest versions to provide the relevant insights.

Engaging Multimedia Content Creation:
I developed compelling multimedia technical collateral to effectively communicate critical competitive intelligence in a way that resonated with various sales groups. This included tailored use cases, product demos, and easy-to-follow technical guides. I leveraged various formats from common ‘live’ screen captures to professional green room studio recordings.

Knowledge Sharing & Internal Collaboration:
I actively contributed to the company-wide internal blog, publishing and distributing critical knowledge for global consumption. This fostered knowledge sharing across departments and ensured everyone within Cisco stayed informed about the competitive landscape, empowering them to make data-driven decisions.

Cisco - CSI TME - Overview of my POC Labs & Reports

My contributions significantly impacted the traffic on our team website, attracting 1-10K monthly views. I crafted in-depth blog posts featuring comprehensive competitive analysis of NAC solutions. These posts leveraged real-world insights through hands-on lab deployments and user experience case studies highlighting Cisco’s strengths. To enhance user engagement, I incorporated various media formats such as battle-cards, FAQs, datasheets, TDM decks, RFIs/RFPs, live/recorded demos, and sales and marketing like "If you can't see it, you can't secure it!" professional green screen studio recordings.
Some notable blog post topics explored the impact of software upgrade downtime on competitor solutions, compared network segmentation solutions, analyzed campus controller capabilities, and delved into end-client profiling features—all focusing on differentiating Cisco’s Enterprise NAC solutions by showing we remain first in class in software, hardware, switches, APs, and client profiling from the competition overseas. Recognizing my expertise in cloud adoption and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) at HPE, Brocade recruited me during their rapid expanse phase as their inaugural vADC TME. This position allowed me to collaborate with a global network of product managers, championing a new generation of application network and security products: Services Director (SD) in Australia, Virtual Traffic Manager (vTM) in San Jose, and Virtual Web Application Firewall (vWAF) in Germany. I leveraged my technical and interpersonal skills to develop successful Proof of Concept (POC) demos and training labs for the product line. These efforts empowered Sales Engineers, customers, and partners, leading me to support PMs or Sales Engineers during EBC customer meetings, where I conducted ‘live’ demos to address any technical questions or concerns. I participated in over 20 EBC customer meetings, ranging from SMB to Fortune 100 companies. Brocade’s significant success in expansion was recognized by the industry, leading to its rapid acquisition by Broadcom, which led me to seek new opportunities after the best team I've worked with split up.
Major Deliverables & Accomplishments

Developed POC Demos & Training Labs:
I designed and built POC labs, deploying Brocade vADC and competitor products in both local labs and public cloud environments (including AWS/GCP/Azure). To ensure the labs reflected real-world scenarios, I created Cloud Formation Automation deployment scripts for various sized customer environments. I kept labs up to date to easily test latest features.

Created multi-media technical collateral for communication and training:
I developed tailored use cases and presentations that effectively communicated the value proposition of our solutions. In addition to presentations, I leveraged various multimedia content to engage audiences, including live screen capture videos, podcasts, and easy-to-follow technical how-to guides.

Showcased solutions and provided in-depth training to diverse audiences:
I conducted live demonstrations of our solutions at industry events and EBC meetings for customers ranging from S&P 100 to SMB. I also played a key role in training sales engineers at global summits, delivering live 90-minute hands-on training and demo sessions to over 100 sales engineers to effectively train how to sell our solutions.

Enabled remote learning and ongoing engagement:
To extend making learning easy I published blueprints on a Ravello cloud and CloudFormation Templates on AWS providing customers and partners with take-home training labs. These labs offered on-demand demo and sandbox environments, allowing users to explore the solutions at their own pace and convenience.

I also focused on features and performance testing as shown by my demonstration of SSL Offloading to highlight my product line (vTM + vWAF) capabilities and efficiencies on public clouds including the major three AWS, Azure, and GCP.
I also worked with Marketing and provided technical content to help create sales videos for our vADC Video Series focused on E-commerce. To further amplify Brocade's presence I proactively sought out to attend many industry events. Notably I presented a technical booth demo at VMworld 2016, demonstrating seamless vADC integration with VMware ESXi.

My growth at HPE culminated in a Cloud Solutions Architect role – my 3rd promotion within 3 years. Fueled by my can-do attitude and eagerness to learn, I quickly acquired the necessary cloud knowledge to co-lead the end-to-end cloud infrastructure architecture for our new Unified Wired & Wireless Cloud Management System (Sprint Demo Recording using my lab setup) on Microsoft Azure.
